Create positive narratives and discourses: State President Dr MKM Zafar
Hyderabad: Film making and fiction writing are powerful tools to change public opinion on
societal issues. Indian Muslims must focus on creating positive narratives and discourses so that
they can be popularized through mass media. These were the views expressed by Dr. MKM
Zafar, State President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Telangana on Sunday.
Speaking to a gathering of young participants in the Storytelling & Script Writing Workshop at
Lakkadkote, Dr Zafar encouraged the budding writers and video creators to address social
issues.
Dr Faheemuddin Ahmed, the guest speaker in the workshop, termed the fiction writer as the
leader (Imam) while referring to Huxley’s futuristic work Brave New World. He added that a
large number of masses change themselves by imitating visual representation of personalities. “As a writer, you can create better examples in fiction.”
Fiction writing helps in promoting ideas and thoughts to a wider audience in an engaging way, said Dr. S M Fasiullah, Director of HRD. He lectured on the topic ‘Art of creating a story’.
The workshop was organised by the HRD dept. in collaboration with Tajalli Productions at Islamic Centre. About 60 selected participants were trained and introduced to opportunities in these creative fields. Tajalli Productions incharge Mr. Anas Rizvi provided practical guidance and assistance in conducting the workshop while film writer Tawseef A. Quazi discussed script writing. Mr. Mohammed Zameer, member of HRD Committee, compered in the workshop.
